docker port

Golden rule:


port1:port2 means you’re mapping port1on the host to port2on the container.

i.e. host:container


Say you run:

you’re mapping port 80 in the container to port 8080 on the host.

-p => publish a container’s port to the host

docker port web

gives
80/tcp -> 0.0.0.0:8080

which means:

80 on containermaps to 8080 on host
